NVSL 40 or Masters Over40 PLAYER ELIGIBILITY POLICY SPRING 2009

NVSL PLAYER ELIGIBILITY POLICY SPRING 2009:
1. Players with birth date on or before 1/1/1970 are eligible to play in NVSL40 in Spring 2009.
2. XCAVS may have (1) player born prior to 1/1/1975 on their eligible playing roster.
3. Motors40 may have (2) players born prior to 1/1/1975 on their eligible playing roster.
4. LWFC40 may have (3) players born prior to 1/1/1975 on their eligible playing roster.
5. Kourush may have (2) players born prior to 1/1/1975 and (1) player born prior to 1/1/1976 on their eligible playing roster.
6. Exiles may have (5) players born prior to 1/1/1975 on their eligible playing roster.
7. Team #6-8 may have (6) players born prior to 1/1/1975 on their eligible playing roster.
8. Items 2-7 above were enacted to improve the competitive balance within the league and were awarded based on standings finish in Fall 2008.
9. Managers are to highlight their exemption players on the roster sheets they present to referees at the beginning of each match and are expected to manage these exemptions based on the “honor code”. i.e. follow the rules as written above.
10. The exemption program is an experiment and will be reviewed for effectiveness and potential renewal in July 2009 after Over 40 State Cup with subsequent policy governing Fall 2009 to be in place by 1 August 2009.
All games are to be 90 minute matches with a 5 minute half time. Referees MUST gain agreement by managers (not captains) of both teams during pre-game in order to shorten a match. If the team managers do not agree to a shortened match the referee can abandon the match and report such in their game report to the competition authority. If referees take this step, they risk payment for the match being withheld or withdrawn. The referee can abandon a match at any time for reasons of safety (e.g. weather, player misconduct, fan misconduct).
